A gallery of dresses I have made for my children and things I have made for my Etsy Store. Some are based on patterns – mainly Burda Kids and Violette Fields Threads – and others are custom creations or pattern hacks. I’ll start some posts about my favorite items.
Pants and Shorts
The ruffle pants have been a staple in my daughter’s wardrobe since she was 18 months old. Every year I have continued to make her new pants and as she was growing, she wore many of them for multiple years. They simply got a bit shorter every year.
For winter, I even modified a long pants pattern to add a ruffle bottom. I make these out of colorful minky dot fabric. Whenever it gets cold, these are her go-to pants.
One of my favorite ways to elongate the live of a shirt is to add a peplum. I started doing these shirts for my little girl when she started outgrowing her onesies. She had these great onesies with collars from Janie and Jack. I simply cut off the bottom and added a cotton skirt that coordinated with the collar.
As she grew older, I loved embellishing shirts for her. It was very difficult to find blank shirts in fun colors and good quality cotton. I really like the cotton shirts from H&M. They are a nice thin cotton that is perfect for the Texas heat and they come in a wide variety of colors. They also have long sleeves available.
